📌 This article answers the following questions:
- How do I create and link a Stripe account to elloha?
- How do I enable secure online payments on my booking engine?
- How do I set up automatic bank transfers to my bank account using Stripe?
- What are the requirements for setting up Stripe on elloha?
Why is this important?
Managing cheques or bank transfers can quickly become time-consuming. Stripe is the leading payment solution that integrates natively with elloha to offer you:
Total security: Your guests’ bank details are encrypted and protected.
Valuable time savings: No more chasing up deposits – everything is automated.
A professional image: Offer the same level of service as a major platform, without the high commission fees.
No hardware required: You can process payments for your bookings directly from your computer or mobile, without the need for a physical card terminal.
Follow the step-by-step guide
Step 1: Access the Stripe settings
To activate the Stripe payment solution and secure your accommodation transactions:
In the left-hand side menu, click on the Settings tab.
Select the My Money section.
In the section dedicated to Stripe, click the ‘Enable’ button (3% / collection).
Step 2: Enter your personal details
Fill in the required details to complete the creation of your Stripe account:
Your first name and surname
Your date of birth
Your postal address
Your telephone number and website address
💡 Tip: To save time, you can use the ‘Retrieve your account details’ option to automatically pre-fill these fields.
❗️Important: To verify your Stripe account and enable payment collection for your bookings, you must provide a public link confirming your business activity.
Here are some examples of links accepted by Stripe:
Your business website.
Your listing on a booking platform (Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.).
Your professional social media profiles (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
Your Google Business Profile listing.
Please ensure that the link you choose clearly identifies your accommodation to speed up the validation of your account by Stripe.
Step 3: Set up your bank details
Enter your payment details to ensure you receive your transfers:
Enter your IBAN in the designated field.
Customise the reference for the bank transfers so you can easily identify these transactions on your bank statement.
Step 4: Submit your ID
To secure your transactions, Stripe requires you to verify your identity using an official document.
You can provide one of the following documents:
National identity card (front and back in two separate files)
Passport
Driving licence
❗Important: To be accepted by the system, your documents must be in colour, perfectly legible, valid and saved in the correct format.
Step 5: Submit your proof of address
To complete your account setup, you must provide a document proving your address.
Accepted documents include:
Utility bill (electricity, gas or water)
Telephone or internet subscription bill
Tax notice
Rent receipt
Home insurance certificate
Bank details or bank statement
❗ Important: Your document must be less than 6 months old and must explicitly state your name and address.
Step 6: Set up your Stripe Terminal
This section allows you to link your physical payment terminal to your elloha account.
If you have a Stripe terminal: enter the required information to synchronise your device.
If you do not have a physical terminal: leave this field blank and proceed directly to the next step.
💡 Tip: For more details on setting up your hardware, please see the help article dedicated to the Stripe Terminal.
Step 7: Set up your payment methods
Once you’ve set up your Stripe account, select the payment methods accepted for your accommodation:
Major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and American Express are enabled by default to cover the majority of transactions. It is not possible to disable them.
Alternative payment methods: offer Bancontact (for Belgian customers), iDeal (for Dutch customers) or Klarna (instalment payments) depending on your customers’ payment habits.
Individual management: enable or disable each option separately to tailor your offering.
To find out more about how Klarna works, see the dedicated article.
Step 8: Finalise the activation
Once you’ve completed the details, follow these steps to enable online payment for your accommodation:
Click the ‘Save’ button at the top of the page.
Your application is automatically sent to Stripe for a security check.
As soon as your account is approved, Stripe will be activated and you can start collecting payments from your tenants.
You can view your transaction history directly from the ‘My Receipts’ tab in ‘My Money’.
❗Important: The Stripe verification process is a mandatory step to ensure the security of your account and the compliance of your future transfers.
Please note
Transaction fees: the commission is 3% per actual payment received (not per booking).
Flexibility: you determine the amounts to be collected (e.g. deposits only) based on your pricing plans and the services you offer.
Payout times: funds are transferred to your bank account within 10 working days of the payment being received.
Tracking: you can view the details of your transactions in the ‘My Receipts’ tab.
Bank reference: if you customise the reference for Stripe transfers, this text will also appear on the payment confirmations sent to your guests.
💡 Tip: We recommend settling each booking by the day of arrival at the latest to avoid any potential payment issues (card limit reached, payment blocked, etc.).
⚠️ Please note: For security reasons, you never have access to your customers’ bank details; these are stored in Stripe’s secure environment. Please also note that the fees charged by Stripe are non-refundable and are therefore your responsibility.
