📌 This article answers the following questions:
- How do I create a service option (cleaning, bed linen, shuttle, spa, etc.) in elloha?
- How do I link a service option to one or more accommodation listings?
- How do I specify whether the service is compulsory for the entire stay or left to the guest’s discretion?
- How do I set the quantity and price for a service option?
Why is this important?
Adding service options to your elloha booking engine offers three major benefits:
Increased turnover: You can monetise services that you may already have been offering for free or on an informal basis.
Customer satisfaction: You can meet guests’ specific expectations (such as the need for parking, a more thorough cleaning service or specific equipment).
Time savings: Everything is booked and paid for in advance, which makes it easier for you to organise logistics before guests arrive.
Understanding the different types of services
📌 Good to know: You can also read the article ‘Boost your revenue by creating options for your customers’ to find out the full process for creating an option.
Each service has its own pricing structure to suit the specific needs of your business.
1. Parking, Shuttle, Pets
These options make it easier for guests to arrive and enjoy their stay.
Parking:
This is usually charged per day.
Example: Parking at €10 per day to guarantee a space for the entire stay.
You can choose to charge for the entire duration of the stay or let the guest select the days they wish to use the car park.
The calculation of parking charges is automatically adjusted according to the length of your guests’ stay:
Calculation per night: the daily rate applies to each night booked.
Availability management: your parking space stock is deducted per night to prevent over-bookings on your calendar.
Space rotation: this system ensures that a space is available for the next guest as soon as the previous guests have left.
💡 Tip: For a 3-day stay (i.e. 2 nights), your guest will be charged for 2 days’ parking. This calculation method covers the period of parking between arrival (check-in) and departure (check-out).
Shuttle service:
A per-person rate.
A differentiated rate per person (Adult / Child).
Example: Shuttle from the station to accommodation at €25 per journey
. Adult shuttle at €25 and child shuttle at €15
📌 Good to know: To offer children’s rates, you must first enable this option under ‘My property / My accommodation’, then in the ‘General’ tab. Indicate that you offer children’s rates and specify the age at which these rates apply.
This is a flexible option that guests can book at their discretion.
Pets:
A daily charge to cover the costs of accommodating our four-legged friends.
Example: A pet surcharge of €10 per day for cleaning and maintenance.
2. Cleaning and Linen
The settings here are crucial for your profit margins.
Cleaning (flat rate):
A fixed amount for the entire stay, regardless of its duration.
Example: Cleaning fee of €50 for a stay of 2 nights or 7 nights.
Cleaning (1-day flat rate):
This option is exclusively for one-night stays:
Visibility: it does not appear on your booking engine for longer stays.
Pricing: the amount entered per day corresponds to the total price of the service.
The option is automatically hidden if the guest selects two nights or more.
Example: End-of-stay cleaning at €40; the guest pays €40 regardless of their arrival or departure time.
Cleaning (multi-night stays):
This option is only enabled for bookings of at least 2 nights:
Visibility: the option is hidden for single-night stays.
Calculation: the daily rate is applied to the entire booking.
Example: For a 5-night stay at €25 per night, the guest pays a total of €125 for cleaning.
💡 Tip: Offer a reduced daily rate for long stays (e.g. €25 per night instead of €40) to encourage guests to stay longer.
💡 Tip: For standard end-of-stay cleaning, use ‘Cleaning (flat rate)’. For a hotel-style service with daily visits, opt for ‘Cleaning (multi-day flat rate)’.
Linen (1 day):
Charged per day and per guest.
Example: Linen kit at €10 per person for one night.
Linen (multi-day):
Charged per day, per guest, and applied to the entire stay.
Example: Daily linen change at €8 per person per day.
3. Hire of Equipment, Rooms and Products
Items provided on arrival:
A flat rate for the stay. Example: One stère of firewood or a welcome hamper.
Equipment hire (Standard or Sport):
Charged per item, bookable as required by the customer.
Meeting room hire:
A rate calculated per person, ideal for segmenting your seminar packages.
