📌 This article answers the following questions:
- How do I create and publish a news item on my Elloha website?
- What is the purpose of news items on the elloha website and how do they improve search engine optimisation?
- How do I add photos and links to a news item on my website?
- How do I schedule a news item to be published at a future date?
Why is this important?
Maintaining an active news section on your Elloha website offers three major benefits for your business:
Reassuring your guests: A regularly updated website shows that your holiday let or guesthouse is active and ready to welcome guests.
Boost your search engine optimisation (SEO): Each new news item is fresh content indexed by search engines, increasing your chances of appearing at the top of Google’s results.
Promote a local experience: By sharing events in your region, you give travellers another reason to choose your destination and book directly with you.
Follow the step-by-step guide
Step 1: Go to the news creation page
This interface allows you to manage the editorial content published on your site.
Go to the Marketing menu.
Click on the News tab in the left-hand sidebar.
Click the ‘Create a news item’ button at the top right of your screen.
Step 2: Enter the content of your news item
In the General tab, do the following:
Enter the title of your news item in the field provided.
Write the body of your text in the description field, detailing points of interest for your travellers (heritage, activities, atmosphere).
Step 3: Add a video to your news item
You can illustrate your news item by embedding a YouTube video:
Copy the link (URL) to your YouTube video.
Paste the link directly into the designated field.
The video will be automatically embedded in your content.
💡 Tip: Adding a video helps your guests get a better idea of the experience on offer at your accommodation.
Step 4: Add keywords
Enter keywords related to your news item to optimise its search engine ranking and visibility:
The destination: name of the town, county or region (e.g. Aveyron, Belcastel).
Type of venue: nature of the establishment or surroundings (e.g. medieval village, charming holiday cottage).
The experience: theme of the stay (e.g. nature break, hiking).
💡 Tip: Specific keywords help your customers find your content quickly and improve your accommodation’s ranking on search engines.
Step 5: Set the publication period
Decide how long your news item will remain visible on your website:
Permanent: your post remains visible indefinitely.
Custom dates: your news item is displayed only during the selected period, which is ideal for a one-off event.
💡 Tip: Use date-based scheduling to automatically remove content linked to a seasonal event or a limited-time offer.
Step 6: Preview your news item on your distribution channels
Before finalising the publication, use the preview function to check how your content will appear across your various platforms.
View how your news item appears on your website.
Check how it appears on Google and Facebook.
Adjust your headline, text or image to ensure optimal readability on each channel.
Step 7: Add an image to your news item
Adding an image helps to illustrate your content and capture your customers’ attention.
Go to the Media tab.
Click the ‘Add media’ button.
Select a photo that represents your topic.
Enter a title or caption to provide context for your image.
💡 Tip: A high-quality image immediately captures visitors’ attention and encourages them to explore all your content.

Step 8: Publish your news item
Once your news item has been saved, select the publication channels in the General tab:
Toggle the switch for your Website to display the information there.
Select the desired platforms (Google, Facebook or Instagram) for synchronised sharing.
Check that the selected platforms match your communication strategy.
💡 Tip: To share your news on social media, make sure your Google, Facebook or Instagram accounts are already linked to your elloha account. For more information, see the relevant articles.
❗️Important: Avoid leaving news items that are too old (more than 6 months) online. Outdated content can send a negative signal about your establishment’s dynamism. Remember to delete or update your old articles regularly.
Key points
Consistency: Post at least once a month to maintain your visibility.
Engagement: Always illustrate your posts with attractive photos of your holiday rental.
Keywords: Include the name of your town or region in your text to help travellers find you on Google.
