📌 This article answers the following questions:
- How do I link my domain name (OVH, IONOS, Gandi, etc.) to my elloha website?
- How do I configure A-record DNS settings to point to elloha?
- Why is my website not accessible after changing the domain name?
- Why do I need to delete the AAAA (IPv6) records?
Why customise your web address?
For your guests, a personalised domain name is a sign of professionalism. It makes it easier for them to find you, improves your organic search rankings and ensures that your accommodation is perceived as a high-quality offering from the very first click.
Follow the step-by-step guide
Step 1: Access your website’s control panel
To set up your accommodation’s website, follow these steps:
Click on the ‘Website’ tab in the left-hand side menu.
Check the activation status: your site’s default URL (ex : https://lacazaazzura.ellohaweb.com/) should be displayed at the top of the page.
⚠️ Please note: If no URL is displayed, your website is not yet activated. Click here to read the relevant article and activate it.
Step 2: Change your domain name
Once the website has been activated with the default domain name, click on the button to the right of the site name to change it.
Then, click on the ‘I want to use my current web address’ button.
Step 3: Configure the DNS records with your domain registrar
To link your domain name to your elloha website, carry out the following steps with your domain name registrar (OVH, IONOS, Gandi, etc.):
Log in to your domain name provider’s control panel.
Go to the DNS records management section.
Create or edit the two A records (one without a prefix and the other with the prefix “www”).
Point both of these records to the IP address shown in your elloha account.
⚠️ Please note: Use only the IP address displayed in your elloha account.
Do not copy the IP address shown in the visual example.
Your IP address may vary and is specific to your account configuration.
❗️Important: Make sure you delete the AAAA (IPv6) records. If they remain active, they may block access to your elloha site for some of your travellers.
Step 4: Enter your domain name
Go back to elloha, enter your domain name including ‘www’, and click ‘Validate’. For example: www.lacazaazzura.com
❗️Important: The technical update (known as DNS propagation) can take anywhere from a few hours to 48 hours. Don’t worry if your site isn’t immediately visible under its new name – this is perfectly normal!
Key points
A custom domain name builds trust with your future customers.
The change is made in two stages: first with your hosting provider, then on elloha.
Make sure you remove the IPv6 (AAAA) fields to avoid any display errors.
Once confirmed, your website will become the driving force behind your direct bookings.
